Pete Modigliani is the Co-Department Head for Defense Acquisition and Policy at the MITRE Corporation. He works with acquisition executives and practitioners across the DoD, Intelligence Community, and Civil agencies to deliver innovative solutions with greater speed and agility. He supports USD(A&S) in the development of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework, shaping policies, and new acquisition pathways. He launched Acquisition in the Digital Age (AiDA) as a platform to demonstrate how to digitally transform the acquisition enterprise. It features MITRE’s work on Accelerating program deliveries, leveraging new acquisition and contracting strategies, and applying Agile practices within acquisition programs. He worked with the Section 809 Panel, Congressional staffs, and various organizations to shape strategic acquisition and requirements reforms. He advises program managers and portfolio executives on shaping major acquisition strategies and turning around struggling programs. He worked with acquisition executives to modernize their acquisition enterprises for greater speed and agility. He’s presented at conferences on leading research and strategies for portfolio management, Agile acquisition, rapid acquisition, and digital transformation. Prior to MITRE, Pete was an Assistant Vice President for Program Management with Alion Science where he led senior acquisition experts to support the Air Force Acquisition Executives Information Dominance division. Pete began his career as an Air Force officer, serving as a Program Manager on major defense and IT programs.
